    Meditation Techniques versus Relaxation. Anxiety. Depression. Dr Parmjit Singh phDAre meditation techniques more effective than relaxation therapies? A recent meta-analysis (combination of stud­ies) published in the journal of Psychological Medicine indicated the meditation techniques to be a bit more effec­tive than relaxation techniques in treating anxiety and it continues to remain effective at the 12 month follow-up period.

    Though more robust studies are required to reach a definite conclusion, the results from various studies are showing awareness-based meditation tech­niques to be promising supporting interventions for mind-related health challenges, especially anxiety, rumination and depressive symptoms.
