Before coming to the course I was experiencing palpitations and anxiety. Creating time for myself to practice the yoga postures and meditation has created space for me not to be so chaotic. I no longer feel like a hamster on a wheel.
Incorporating meditation, yoga postures and breathing exercises have been excellent tools for me to start the process of change. I have been more patient with my spouse and family. I am trying to change the mental picture of the way I think things should be.
Kim Thompson, Fitness Expert, Hamilton
This program helped me understand the mind-body relationships and how this affects health. This knowledge enabled a conviction that I could change things. The activities provided a glimpse into how things could change. I used the meditation, yogic breathing and mindfulness techniques to help overcome anxiety and restlessness. It is a start but I am very optimistic that concepts & activities learned in this program will provide the path to a healthier & happier life.
Susan Walker, PhD Student, McMaster University
Physically I feel better. My center core feels stronger. The mindfulness made me more aware of what is happening around and in me and therefore act more in the now.
I found having group discussions really helped me to understand myself and know how my problems can be understood and why they are the way they are. I have noticed slight changes in how I communicate with my mother and daughter. Now we have enjoyable conversation more often than before.
Donna Jennis, Hamilton
Emphasis of mindfulness was very positive. This was not new to me but the program brought it back into focus for me and encouraged adoption of the practice. Also liked the physical, mental and spiritual balance of yoga and meditation/relaxation. I liked the holistic approach and will continue to work on integrating some of the techniques and approached learned into my life.
Jean MacKay, Hamilton
I enjoyed this course so much & can’t wait to take the summer 10 week program. I would recommend this course to everyone. I was surprised that my palms and feet were getting warm through imagery.
Ameet Bhar, Dundas
An amazingly useful; well structured with easy to use applications and background information to support applications. For the 1st time I can believe (have hope) that the ‘real self’ is better than what I perceive to be my layered self, i.e. that underneath all this accumulation, I am okay after all.
Jane-Donaldson-Mooij, Hamilton
The breathing exercises were helpful in calming me when I found myself under stress. It is a portable tool for me. I loved it all. When I find myself under stress i.e. running late or challenging parent situation, I use the word ‘ninety-nine’ ( trigger). I start to count backward while taking deep centering breaths and just starting by saying ‘ninety-nine’ immediately relaxes my mind and body. I would love to take a refresher course each year to reinforce what I have learned to get back on track. If you (facilitator) ever take a healing voyage tour group to India, I would be interested.
Sheila MacDonald, Hamilton
The talk by you and our discussion group helped me a lot. I am going to miss the class. I have been going through a bad phase. The turning point has arrived. You talk and your manual was very inspiring. And it sounded like you practice what you preach.
Paramjit Kaur, Dundas
I enjoyed most aspects of the program but what I incorporated in my daily life was breathing techniques for quieting my mind. I also enjoyed simple yoga moves.
Pat Ward, Hamilton
The breathing exercises, OM chanting, walking meditation and journaling, the idea of not comparing yourself to everybody around has helped me greatly. Simple yoga movements combined with the breathing to help start meditation. Including quiet time into my day has helped tremendously with anxiety and stress levels.
Kim Thompson, Fitness Expert, YWCA Hamilton
I think I am able to let go a bit more and accept the events of life that are unexpected. The idea ‘that thoughts are just that and can be passed over’ has helped me in improving my health. I will take your course again.
Francine Walsh, Mohawk McMaster Institute of Applied Health, Hamilton
It was everything I expected it to be. I found it especially good at the bringing all therapies, life experiences together to make sense of my life. Yoga poses, meditation techniques, thought surveillance and lecture (discussion) part helped me most. I wish it was longer. Looking forward to next 10-week course. Thank you for the experience.

I do not know how or why or when but now I am more social, have more ambition to things. I want to take longer course now to see how much more I can learn, change and learn. Everyday examples of different topics given by Parmjit (facilitator) helped. Thank you.

Ilga Valters, Hamilton
I was at a crossroads in my life, career-wise and in my personal life. I was feeling depressed, self-conscious, unhappy and unsure of where I wanted my future to lead me. Over these months, I am happy inside again and love myself. I feel alive and able to follow my heart and make the right decisions in my life.
This course and Parmjit (the facilitator) have helped me to find myself, my ‘inner peace’, to trust myself and know myself and most importantly, to love myself. I really enjoy listening to Parmjit speak. He has a way of speaking and that is calm, peaceful, truthful and insightful. He helped us to talk of our thoughts and issues and heard his insights and thoughts. Of course, the yoga and meditation were essential.
—Joanne Malar, Three Time Olympian, Hamilton
This course helped me to slow down my consciousness, almost to stillness, so that I now have a much clearer idea of the issues in my life, where I have come from, in which directions I might now be able to go. From calmness, I can now deal with my “big issues”, my sadness and problems. Discussion of personal issues was a boon. All activities were helpful.
—Stu Shepherd, Hamilton
I am little clearer on what I would like to do. I trust my feelings and intuitions and I am trying to discriminate between distractions and genuine feelings. The course has helped me see clearer at work, home, with others and by myself. I have tools to help me live in the world so the world does not live in me. I do daily mindful exercises and I find they all work.
—Delano Duchek, Hamilton

I found I loved your discussions. Not once were you unable to answer a question, and your answers always made sense. I would absolutely love to hear you speak again. The difference in my frame of mind after the course is striking. And I have never been more determined (nor I have been closer) to loving myself. Thank you Parmjit”.Cheryl Boileau, Stelco, Hamilton
