An eight week Stress Reduction Through Mindfulness program is currently being offered to McMaster medical school
students as part of their self-care program. We meet for two hours each
week and each session is focused on developing skills of being present
and attentive. Participants are invited to learn the skills of ‘paying
attention’ and awareness then translate that learning to the challenging
and sometime unsettling environment of medical training.
Each session is very practical and experiential and most of the time is
spent in developing skills of stress reduction and learning to bring the
awareness to their day to day life. However, a short time each week is
also allocated to intellectual learning of the methods and techniques
and other important aspect of self-care.
If you would like to
know more about the program, please do not hesitate to contact me. More
information also can be requested from Undergraduate MD Program at McMaster University, Hamilton.
