During the last week of September 2007, I went to Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA to do ‘Clinical Training in Mind-Body Medicine’. This training is meant for professionals who are engaged in mind-body health and wellness field and wish to hone up and upgrade their skills so that they can help the needy even more efficiently.
At Harvard, I met and talked to Dr Herbert Benson (see the picture), the founder of Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine (formerly called Mind-Body Medical Institute).
Dr Benson shot into fame during seventies with his book called ‘Relaxation Response’ which shows that conscious initiation of relaxation through mind-body strategies counters the potentially aggravating effects of stress on health and can help in broad range of mental and physical conditions.
This training at Harvard honed my skills for helping individuals and groups dealing with stress-related problems in the areas of cancer, anxiety, depression, cardio-vascular problems, and menopause. Training also focused on using mind-body strategies to help students navigate the pressures and stress of competitive learning and do well in schools and colleges.
Important Note: All our health and wellness programs are modeled after but not affiliated with clinical programs of Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA.
